About The Author
My life has had a wide variety of physical, personal and entrepreneurial adventures. Most importantly, I have been surrounded by fascinating, loving and challenging people, allowing both growth and lessons learned
from failure.
As a sixth generation Southern Californian,
I experienced the last part of California’s “golden era” when the state was dominated with vibrant small towns and open space. I was raised in Newport Beach, lived in downtown Los Angeles, rural Marin County and rustic Riverside County.
My writings and articles have appeared in the
Los Angeles Times, Daily Pilot, Orange County Register, Coast Magazine, Stu-News Newport, plus social media including poetry, short stories and fiction. The launch of Flyin’ Kai: A Pelican’s Tale
is my first novel.
Becoming an author is my fourth career. I have worked in sales, business and real estate management plus taught and counseled at the secondary level.
My education includes Newport-Mesa Schools, University of Southern California, University of Redlands, Nanjing University, Instituto de Allende and University of Oregon. My studies resulted in
a Bachelor’s Degree in History and
a Master’s Degree in Education.
A thalassophile (lover of the sea), I have lived with the ocean since birth. I honor the ocean with my writings, photography, surfing, sailing, and travels.
A great disappointment in life has been watching much of California’s beautiful open space and magical wildlife disappear.
Please enjoy my website as it grows with poetry, photography, fiction and historical articles on California and Hawai`i.
"Only You Can Save The Seas."
